Lent Update

Just a little Lent Update for you!

If you saw last Tuesday’s post it was What I’m Giving Up For Lent (the link here).

As of Wednesday, March 8th at approximately 3:30pm I decided to eat meat more specifically an in n out burger.  This is the first time that I wasn’t able to complete what I gave up for Lent.  I don’t see this as a failure, but as more of a ‘live and learn’ experience.  In addition,  I don’t feel like I quit either.  I chose that it was something that I didn’t want to put my body through any longer.

I know some of you are wondering why I decided to eat meat.  As weird as it sounds, it was for health reasons.  I had been feeling really tired (more that usual).  I could barely get out of bed to start the day.  All I wanted to do was sleep.  When I finally was able to get up, my head felt very cloudy.  I couldn’t focus and in all I felt really weird.

I talked to my parents (well mostly my Mom) to find out what I should do.  And I ultimately decided that giving up meat wasn’t something that I should be doing.  I have different ways of getting protein, but meat is the main one.  I feel that the sudden lack of protein and iron I was getting into my body made my body go into a kind of “protective mode” and what was causing the symptoms I was feeling.

In all I lasted 6 1/2 days.

Currently I am trying to figure out what I will do in place of meat.

This was a great learning experience, and I am very proud of myself even if it was only for 6 days!
