El Niño Essentials: Movies

As El Niño is happening I for one, do not like leaving the house.  I try to stay home as much as possible because rain and wind plus Southern California drivers is not a good mix.  So, I have decided to make a list of movies to watch while home!  You can watch these by yourself, with your friends, husband, and kids!

El Nino movies

Mean Girls– Classic early 2000s movie! This movie will never get old.  You will still cheer for Glen CoCo in many years to come!

Singing in the Rain- Now this is a classic! Came out in 1952–Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly, and Donald O’Connor are the ultimate triple threat!  You’ll feel like your right in the movie with the rain coming down outside your windows! Plus the choreography, Oh my goodness!!

Bridesmaids- This movie might not be appropriate for some kids (sex scenes and language), but it sure gives us a great laugh! I mean, who doesn’t love Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wigg, Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne?

The Breakfast Club– This movie (in my opinion) is the epitome of teen angst.  With different clique’s clashing at first, come together and realize that they all have things going on, and it makes for a wonderful movie!

21 Jump Street- Adapted into a movie from the popular television show in the late 1980s stars actors Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, narcs undercover as high school students to solve a mystery of who is master mind with a new drug. Hilariously funny!

Friends With Benefits– This movie might not be appropriate for some kids (sex scenes).  If you like RomComs, definitely watch this movie! Starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.  Both just getting out of a relationships decided to try to have friends with benefits not realizing that they were falling for each other in the process.

**I recommend starting with Singing in the Rain and then making your way down the rest of the list!

And of course, Harry Potter is also a great rainy day marathon series!

Tell me some of your favorite rainy day movies in the comments below!

stay classy
