Summer On A Budget

Summer is fun and we have to make the most with what we have. Â I’ve come up with a few fun things do to while spending a summer on a budget.
- Go to a movie in the park
Most cities have free movie nights in the park during summer.  Head to your city’s website to see if there are any fun movies you’d want to see.  Then grab a blanket and a picnic basket to make a night out of it.
- Take day trips to the beach
Whether you’re 10 minutes away or 2 hours, beach trips are fun. Â Make sure to pack homemade snacks and bring drinks so you’re not spending any extra money.
- Play the ultimate game of Ollie Ollie Oxen Free
Yes, this might seem a little juvenile. Â However, grab some of your friends, pair into teams of two, and play this game. Â It will bring fun and all sorts of nostalgia to summer.
- Go kayaking
Not everyone owns a kayak ( I certainly don’t) however, renting or borrowing a friends is always a good option. Â It’s fun and a nice workout all in one.
- Go on a hike
Hiking is so much fun especially in Southern California.  We can go hike Runyon Canyon, Hollywood sign, or head to Orange County and/or San Diego for some fun hikes by the ocean.  Grab a few friends and make a morning out of it.
- Watch planes fly overhead
Find a public parking lot near an airport. Â Grab and picnic basket with some food, a blanket, and watch as planes take off and come back in over your head.
- Have a Ping Pong tournament
I don’t know about you, but my family takes ping pong seriously. Â We love to invite friends over for some dinner and drinks and have a ping pong tournament. Â We’ll go to our local party store and pick up a few trophies for the matches. Â This brings lots of laughs and fun memories we can look back on.
- Take a drive down PCH
If you live in California, just driving down Pacific Coast Highway can be an adventure within itself. Â I love being with friends, grabbing some coffee, and driving down PCH while blasting our favorite music.
- Have a Bonfire
Bonfires are so much fun. Â You can watch the sunset while a fire is going, talking with friends, and eating a delicious s’more. Â That’s what summer is all about, right?
I love these ideas! Great for little kids and even my teens.
Thank you. I think these are great for all ages!
I love this idea! I have done a movie in the park, but I love the other ones.
Glad to hear! These are fun and easy to do on a budget!
