How To: Stay Healthy When Under Stress

Life has great moments, and some not so great moments.  Although, we try to stay healthy with during the great moments, under certain circumstances it becomes difficult to stay that way when you’re under stress.  When you don’t take care of yourself we tend to all get sick.  So, I have created some “easy” ways of how to stay healthy under stress.

Drink Water

I know this sounds like the easiest thing in the world.  However, most people don’t actually drink enough water on a day-to-day basis, and when you’re stress, you might not sleep and substitute water for some source of caffeine.

Sitting around isn’t healthy.  If you really don’t have time to move around, try dancing in your car, or just bouncing your leg up and down while you’re sitting.

Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables

When you’re stressed, eating right is one of the first things to go.  It’s important to continue eating well because these foods keep you staying in good health.  I suggest to make your own trail mix with nuts and berries and bring that with you for a fast and healthy snack.  And for your sweet tooth, eat dark chocolate with 80% cocoa!

If you’re like me, when you’re stressed you don’t sleep.  But sleep is very important.  If you can take naps to get some sleep, I would HIGHLY suggest it.  Your immunity goes down when you lack sleep, and that’s when the coffee kicks in.

I realize that this is WAY easier said than done.  Try to read your favorite book or listen to some relaxing music to try and take your mind off of what’s bothering you.  Even just a few minutes can change how you’re feeling!
