Why I’m Not Watching The Bachelor

I am a HUGE fan of The Bachelor and their franchise!  My family and I even have a ‘draft’ while watching the first episode where the men/women proceed out of the limo and introduce themselves to that seasons Bachelor/Bachelorette.  We each pick 3 people and root for them for the rest of the season.

The Bachelor season 21 with the ‘new’ Bachelor, Nick Viall aka Nick V. premiers on January 2nd.  Although, I will not be watching.

The reason I will not be watching this season of the Bachelor is quite simple…I think this man has had too many chances ‘for love’ in The Bachelor franchise.

We first saw Nick V. in Andi Dorfman’s season (season 10).  He was seen as ‘the villian,’ trying to to get Andi’s attention.  Even if it was talking badly about the other men, or stepping into their one-on-one time with the Bachelorette. Then Andi unexpectedly broke his heart on “proposal day”.  Nick was so excited and opened the door to who he thought was going to be Neil Lane.  He became the runner-up to Josh Murray.

The next time we see this man, he basically stalked then bachelorette, Canadian Kaitlyn Bristowe (The Bachelorette season 11) while she was on a group date with her men in New York City.  Long story short, he was let onto the show by Kaitlyn, but ended up being the runner-up yet again.  But this time to Shawn Booth.

After becoming the runner-up two Bachelorette seasons in a row, Nick still did not give up on the franchise and love.  He decided to go on Bachelor in Paradise season 2.  After a cute but short love affair with Jennifer, Nick ultimately decided that BIP wasn’t for him and walked off the show.

If you don’t watch the franchise, the man/woman is the most liked the season before usually becomes the Bachelor/Bachelorette. For instance, Ben Higgins was a fan-favorite on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season, therefore he became the next Bachelor.  Unfortunately that didn’t happen this season.  I was rooting for (one of my guys) Chase McNary, a down to earth guy from Colorado.

Nick had 3 separate chances to ‘find love’  in this franchise and none of them worked.  I still don’t particularly like him either.  I am really big on first impressions, and his definitely wasn’t good.

If you are watching this season, I hope the girl you picks gets the ring!

Wishing you all a happy and safe New Year!
